Ontario vineyards from Collingwood to Niagara are developing snowshoe trails to encourage active winery tourism in the winter.
In South Georgian Bay, Georgian Hills Vineyards and Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery, two of Ontario’s northernmost wineries, have developed tracks through their vineyards this season. And for apres-snowshoe, sampling local wines and nibbling on artisan cheeses is the ideal warm-up.
At Georgian Hills, a self-guiding map leads through trails up to 2 km long, and snowshoes can be borrowed free of charge.
At Coffin Ridge, a brisk, guided tour is capped off in the tasting room with wine & cider sampling, a piping hot bowl of homemade soup and cheese by the fire.
